Cooperstown

MLB Hall of Fame is awesome. Absolute must for any baseball fan. The entire village of Cooperstown is right out of the early 1900's. The drive into Ctown is beautiful. The Hall itself is just what I expected. We walked around for three hours but I could have stayed for a couple more. The weather didn't ruin the ceremony at all. After sitting thru the down pour it felt like a sunny day at Wrigley. I liked all of the speeches and was most surprised by Doug Harveys. I have a new respect for that guy.

But I Dawson was the one I went to see and he delivered. He was very thankful, funny and even touched on PEDs a little. Here it is...

Hall of Fame weekend is here...

I always said when Dawson enters the Hall I would make the trip. So his Hall of Fame induction weekend is here and we leave in the morning! I'm not sure what to expect. Here's a short list:

* Hall of Fame tour. I've always been interested in the history of the game so I'm looking forward to the museum tour.

* Legends of the game. This is a huge weekend for all HOFers and we hope to get a glimpse of some past inductees.

* Cubs from the 80's. Grace, Dunston, Zim, Sutciffe, The Bull, JD, Bobby Keith...

* Pete Rose. I've always heard that Rose sets up shop across from the Hall. He messed up his shot at reinstatement but he;s still a fan favorite.

* Dawson Speech. The Hawk never said much during his playing days, but neither did Ryno and his speech was legendary. Will he talk about how he really wants to enter the hall as a Cub? Will he take shots at today's players? Call for Ryno to be named next Cubs manager?

Dawson vs. Show

This is the second part of  "He's A Hero". The majority being about Dawson getting hit in the face by Eric Show. Dawson owned Show. He had homered in 3 of his last 5 plate appearances at that point against him. The pitch looks to be intentional (although later denied by Show and manager Larry Bowa). Sutcliffe thought so too and was the first one out of the dugout to defend The Hawk.

I was eight yrs. old watching this game on WGN. I remember going absolutley nuts. Seeing Dawson take a 90 mph pitch to the face and still fight through both teams to get to Show made me idolize #8 even more.

The Hawk - 1987 MVP

This is the first part of "He's a Hero" a review of Andre Dawsons MVP season. Its so good to see The Bull, Sutt and Zim talk about how much they respect The Hawk.
